VR 360 Test

Jetpack has added the ability to incorporate 360-degree images and videos. At the time of writing, it’s only available on WordPress.com sites, but it should show up in the Jetpack plugin for self-hosted sites any time now.

Here’s a taste of what’s coming…

One of the issues I have with 360 images is that the file sizes can be quite large. A typical 360-spherical JPG is 5-7 MB or more. A post with several of these included would be come really slow to load. It looks like this is only loading a preview image of the full JPG, then loading the full image when the reader clicks “play.” If so, they’ve just made this a winner in my book.
